I was looking for a rocker for my 4 month old at the time that had more than one position. I was sold on this since it reclined. Also, who could go wrong with the other glowing reviews, it had to be a great product, wrong. I really need to stop buying Bright Starts because 3 of their items (I own) do not hold up to their competitors like Fisher Price and Graco.
I want to start with I love the color of this, loved that is reclined, and also that it grows with the child which I thought was wonderful. I do not like chairs you have to dispose of (donate) after a few months but rather get the most out of them. When ordering this I also ordered some seat straps to match the chair and will admit they matched perfectly, Sunshine Kids Soft Wraps Car Seat Harness Pads, Grey/Ivory. They look a tad dark in the photo but they are lighter and with the cream underside they compliment this rocker well.
Upon receiving the chair, I found it was easy to put together. I did not think it was made well but that is my experience so far with this company. I also say Bright Starts gets an A for appearance but for function they are lacking. My biggest complaint was the vibration part. I liked that is stayed on like another chair I have and love. However, it vibrates from this plastic part under the front padding which is attached to the metal frame! So you have the plastic that is housing the batteries and mechanical part vibrating the metal frame. The metal and plastic were constantly making the loudest sound. I tried to configure it differently and even had an engineer friend look at it but sadly it is the way the chair is designed. Also with the controls right under the baby's feet mine was constantly kicking them and turning them off. It was a blessing so I did not have to hear the metal and plastic constantly vibrating. Also the toy bar on top is worthless. Again, it looks great. But once your turn on the vibration it rattles like crazy. The toy bar is attached to the chair by sliding it into, yes; you guessed it, plastic in the side which is attached yet again to the metal frame. I tried to move it, tape it, you name it, but it made so much noise. I finally removed it.
I bought the Fisher-Price Newborn-To-Toddler Portable Rocker, Lizards, I could compare it feature wise to this rocker. However, the Fisher Price blows this one out of the water. The vibration device is built into a ply wood board that is tucked up in the fabric. It does not make any noise and stays on as well. Also, the Fisher Price reclines all the way down and is very easy to wash. The FP has a control in the front but must be moved left to right so with feet kicking it does not turn it off. The FP chair is a lot cheaper price wise and made so much better.
After having the Bright Starts rocker in my house for a few days I sent it over to Grandma's house. I figured she might like it or they could get it to work differently but they disliked it more than I did and found more cons with it than I did. Sadly, I can not recommend this rocker but if you are looking for something like it the Fisher Price is better and cheaper, and made very well. I am still confused by the high reviews on this as this is not the only product I have found by this company to be lacking in stability.

I bought this out of desperation- my infant barely tolerates 3 different kinds of swings and HATED the normal circular bouncer by Boppy. SHE LOVES THIS! She'll sleep 2-3 hours in it. The pillows look comfy, it's easy to wash and the toy bar flips back and forth so it's easy to get her in and out. I also love that she'll be able to use it when she's older as a regular seat. Super easy to put together too :)
